A RESOLUTION


Commending Tom Thompson on the occasion of his retirement in 2008 from the Georgia dairy industry and Georgia Milk Producers, Inc.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Tom Thompson, a Georgia dairy farmer for over 48 years, has proudly served as the voice for Georgia's hard working dairy producers for the past ten years educating legislative, government, and industry officials on the issues affecting the dairy industry; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from Emory University with a BBA in finance and accounting; and

WHEREAS, upon graduation he went to serve in the U. S. Air Force; and

WHEREAS, he has been involved with the dairy industry since 1960 and has served that industry, the state, and his community in various capacities: president of the Tom Thompson Company, Inc.; president for ten years of Georgia Milk Producers, Inc.; chairman of the board of Tri County Electric Membership Co-op in Gray, Georgia; and currently a general partner with Eatonton Dairy Farm, LLLP; and

WHEREAS, he is married to the former Pamela MacLeod and they have seven children and 15 grandchildren.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Tom Thompson for his outstanding contributions to the dairy industry, congratulate him on the occasion of his retirement from the industry, and extend to him their sincerest best wishes for a healthy and fulfilling retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Tom Thompson.
