RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Bryant family of Buckhead, Georgia; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
in a era spanning 32 years, the town of Buckhead, Georgia, has been governed by
two Bryant mayors and numerous other Bryant family members; and
WHEREAS,
the late Paul Bryant was mayor for 20 years, and his son, Steve, has been mayor
for 12 years and completed his outstanding service at the end of 2007; and
WHEREAS,
Joy Bryant has served as clerk for 32 years and has passed the torch to her
daughter, Kim Jones; and
WHEREAS,
daughter Jennifer Doran, not to be outdone, ran for and won an election as a
city councilwoman last July; and
WHEREAS,
during the Bryant family era, Buckhead has seen such accomplishments as an
expanded water system, new fire department, holiday celebrations for the town's
210 residents, a new park complex, and Tree City, USA.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend the Bryant family for their years of service to
Buckhead, Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is
authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
the Bryant family.
