RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Eula Caras Carlos; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Eula Caras Carlos is a lady of extraordinary compassion and dignity who has
provided years of indispensable service to her fellow Georgians through a number
of outstanding philanthropy projects; and
WHEREAS,
the Carlos name is well recognized in Georgia and the Southeast due to
generosity of Eula and her late husband, Andrew Chris Carlos, who was an
esteemed World War II veteran, an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the
Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, and the executive vice president
of National Distributing Co., Inc., and Servitex, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
through the Andrew and Eula Carlos Foundation, Eula has touched countless lives
in Georgia and elsewhere by endowing a scholarship at the Robinson College of
Business at Georgia State University and providing immense support for the
Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and the Orthodox
Christian Network, among other organizations and institutions; and
WHEREAS,
in the spring of 2007, Eula announced an amazing pledge of $1 million for the
Archbishop Iakovos Enhancement and Endowment Fund for St. Photios Shrine;
and
WHEREAS,
the beautiful chapel of St. Photios Shrine, located in the heart of St.
Augustine, Florida, was dedicated by Archbishop Iakovos to commemorate the first
Greek Orthodox settlers of the United States who arrived by ocean voyage on June
26, 1768; and
WHEREAS,
Eula is affectionately known as "Aunt Eula" by Representative Mike Cheokas of
District 134, and in all of her wonderful endeavors, Eula has acted in the
spirit of an intense love for her family and community;
and
WHEREAS, her immeasurable wisdom and grace have encouraged several generations of relatives, friends, colleagues, and neighbors in Georgia and throughout the United States.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize this wonderful servant of the community, Mrs. Eula Caras
Carlos; commend her numerous fantastic contributions to this state; and extend
to her their sincerest best wishes for her future health and
fulfillment.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Eula
Caras Carlos.
