RESOLUTION
Congratulating
John and Adele Chamlee on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
John and Adele Chamlee were married at the Clayton County Courthouse on May 25,
1946, while John was working with General Motors and Adele was working in the
insurance industry; and
WHEREAS,
John and Adele later worked as civilian employees of the United States Army,
retiring together on January 3, 1987, after John and Adele had served diligently
for 38 and 20 years, respectively; and
WHEREAS,
John has served the Georgia General Assembly as an assistant doorkeeper for 12
outstanding years, and he is among the most familiar faces at the state capitol
building, never failing to offer a warm smile and a pleasant greeting to
legislators and staff alike; and
WHEREAS,
when the legislature is out of session, he works at the Clayton County
Courthouse as a part-time bailiff, and both John and Adele serve their neighbors
as poll staff on election days; and
WHEREAS,
John is fond of attending auto shows and collecting model cars, while Adele's
hobby is collecting dolls of all varieties; and
WHEREAS,
John has had the pleasure of racing his 1957 Chevrolet on the Atlanta Motor
Speedway for five laps, and he and Adele have enjoyed traveling for 20 years;
and
WHEREAS,
John and Adele celebrated the wonderful occasion of their 60th wedding
anniversary in the warm company of their children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren
at a log cabin in Pine Mountain, Georgia; and

WHEREAS,
throughout their lives together, John and Adele have been inspirational pillars
of the community, and their immense devotion to each other has brought honor to
the State of Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate John and Adele Chamlee on the occasion of their 60th
wedding anniversary and extend to them their sincerest best wishes for many more
years of happiness together.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to John and
Adele Chamlee.
