BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Part 3 of Article 6 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to educational programs under the "Quality Basic
Education Act," so as to provide that computer language courses are accepted as
foreign language credits; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting
laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Part
3 of Article 6 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to educational programs under the "Quality Basic Education
Act," is amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:
"20-2-151.3.
For
the purpose of earning Carnegie unit curriculum credits at the high school
level, a demonstrated proficiency in a computer language shall be accepted by
the State Board of Education and all local boards of education as equivalent to
a foreign language for two or more units of foreign language credit, as
determined by the State Board of Education."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
