AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act creating the State Court of Cobb County, approved March 26, 1964
(Ga. L. 1964, p. 3211), as amended, particularly by an Act approved May 5,
2006 (Ga. L. 2006, p. 4276), so as to change the compensation of the
solicitor-general; to change the provisions relating to the compensation of
assistant solicitors; to provide for related matters; to provide an effective
date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act creating the State Court of Cobb County, approved March 26, 1964 (Ga. L.
1964, p. 3211), as amended, particularly by an Act approved May 5, 2006 (Ga. L.
2006, p. 4276), is amended by striking paragraph (1) of subsection (b) of
Section 27 of said Act and inserting in its place a new paragraph to read as
follows:
"(1)
On the effective date of this Act, the solicitor-general of Cobb County shall
receive an annual salary of $135,486.00 to be paid in biweekly installments from
the funds of Cobb County."
SECTION
2.
Said
Act is further amended by striking subsection (d) of Section 27 and inserting in
its place a new subsection (d) to read as follows:
"(d)
The solicitor-general shall have the authority to appoint two assistant
solicitors for each judge of Division I and Division II of the State Court of
Cobb County and the same number of additional assistant solicitors as the number
of full-time magistrates of the Magistrate Court of Cobb County, plus four
additional assistant solicitors, one of whom shall be the chief assistant
solicitor, two of whom may be deputy assistant solicitors, and one of whom may
serve as an intake attorney at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. The
compensation of such assistant solicitors shall be determined by the
solicitor-general. The compensation of the chief assistant solicitor shall not
be less than $74,400.00 and shall not exceed $120,900.00, payable in biweekly
installments from the funds of Cobb County. The compensation of the deputy
assistant solicitor shall not be less than $61,200.00 and shall not exceed
$98,100.00, payable in biweekly installments from the funds of Cobb County. The
compensation of the assistant solicitors shall not be less than $47,900.00 and
shall not exceed $84,400.00, payable in biweekly installments from the funds of
Cobb County. The compensation of the intake assistant solicitor shall not be
less than $47,900.00 and shall not exceed $76,500.00 and shall be paid in the
same manner as all other assistant solicitors. The solicitor-general shall
prescribe the duties and assignments of said assistant solicitors and, while so
employed, they shall not engage in the private practice of
law."
SECTION
3.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
4.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
