BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Part 1 of Article 4 of Chapter 5 of Title 44 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to inter vivos gifts, so as to change the minimum
age for the donation of blood from 17 to 16 years of age; to provide for related
matters; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Part
1 of Article 4 of Chapter 5 of Title 44 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to inter vivos gifts, is amended by revising Code Section
44-5-89, relating to donation of blood by persons over 17 years of age, as
follows:
"44-5-89.
Any
person who is a resident of this state and who is
17
16
years of age or
over
older
may donate his
or
her blood to any person, firm,
association, organization, public or private agency, or corporation without the
consent of his
or
her parent or parents or guardian. Any
person who is not a resident of this state and who is
17
16
years of age or
over
older
may donate his
or
her blood to any person, firm,
association, organization, public or private agency, or corporation in this
state without the consent of his
or
her parent or parents or guardian when the
laws of the state wherein such person resides permit the donation of blood at
such age."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
