A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend an Act providing for the appointment of the chief magistrate of the Magistrate Court of Clayton County, approved March 21, 1984 (Ga. L. 1984, p. 4411), as amended, so as to provide for annual salary increases of the chief magistrate; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
An Act providing for the appointment of the chief magistrate of the Magistrate Court of Clayton County, approved March 21, 1984 (Ga. L. 1984, p. 4411), as amended, is amended by revising subsection (f) of Section 2 as follows:
"(f) The chief magistrate of the Magistrate Court of Clayton County shall receive a salary equal to 85 percent of the state salary provided by general law for judges of the superior courts and any supplement received by judges of the Superior Court of Clayton County pursuant to state law or county resolution or ordinance plus 1 1/2 percent of such base salary and any supplement received pursuant to state law or county resolution or ordinance multiplied by the number of complete years of service as judge served by such person since January 1, 2005. Such salary and longevity increase shall be calculated and payable in equal monthly installments by the Board of Commissioners of Clayton County out of the general funds of Clayton County. The governing authority of Clayton County shall be authorized to supplement such salary."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2007.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
