BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 7 of Title 46 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to motor carriers, so as to provide that the General Assembly may provide by
local law for the regulation of taxicabs and taxi service in any county or
municipality; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
7 of Title 46 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to motor
carriers, is amended by revising Article 5 as follows:
"ARTICLE
5
46-7-100.
Reserved.
The General
Assembly may provide by local law for the regulation of taxicabs and taxi
service within any county or municipality in this state. Such law may include,
without limitation, a restriction on the overall number of taxicabs permitted in
such county or municipality, the imposition of licensing requirements upon
taxicabs and operators, prescribed markings and equipment, and the imposition of
reasonable fees for such licenses. Any such local law shall preempt local
ordinances promulgated pursuant to Code Section
36-60-25."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
