BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 42 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to downtown development authorities, so as to provide that one director of a
downtown development authority may reside outside the county provided that such
director own a business in the downtown development area; to provide for related
matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
42 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to downtown
development authorities, is amended by adding a new subsection to Code
Section 36-42-7, relating to qualifications and reimbursement of directors,
election of officers, and training, to read as follows:
"(c.1)
Notwithstanding subsection (a) of this Code section, one director appointed to
the board may reside outside the county; provided, however, that such appointed
director owns a business within the downtown development area and is a resident
of the State of Georgia. If subsequently to his or her appointment to the board
pursuant to this subsection, the director ceases to own a business within the
downtown development area or reside in the State of Georgia, such director shall
relinquish his or her seat on the board."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
