A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Code Section 31-7-172 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to definitions applicable to the "Georgia Hospice Law," so as to define the term clergy for the purpose of authorizing certain persons to participate as members of hospice care teams; to provide for related matters; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 31-7-172 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to definitions applicable to the "Georgia Hospice Law," is amended by adding a new paragraph as follows:
"(2.1) 'Clergy' includes, in addition to other persons recognized as clergy by rules of the department, an individual representative of a specific spiritual belief who has documentation of ordination or commission by a recognized faith group and who has completed at least four years of study and received a Bachelor of Ministry degree at a college accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
