A RESOLUTION

Commending the courage and perseverance of Ellen D. Williams; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ellen D. Williams is well known to the members of this legislative body as a tireless advocate for health care causes and an accomplished expert in health care policy; and

WHEREAS, Ellen has dedicated much of her personal and professional life to improving the health and healthcare of Georgians and, with the highest integrity and moral character, has successfully and effectively fought to promote policies which reduce the incidence of cancer in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, through a decade of unflagging and selfless work, she has become the most recognizable champion in the fight against cancer in the state capitol, working with members on both sides of the aisle in advancing health care causes; and

WHEREAS, Ellen has now been personally confronted with a diagnosis of breast cancer; and

WHEREAS, with remarkable inner strength and tenacity, she has confronted her diagnosis, treatment, and surgery with the utmost courage and bravery; and

WHEREAS, her unwavering spirit in facing this diagnosis, treatment, and recovery will be matched only by her dedication in seeing that fewer Georgians share her diagnosis and that those that do receive the same excellent care that she has received.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body commends the courage and perseverance of Ellen D. Williams, and its members extend their heartfelt support, prayers, and encouragement to her.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ellen D. Williams.
