A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and service of Sergeant Paul Anthony Saylor and offering condolences to
his family upon his recent loss in combat; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sergeant Paul Anthony Saylor of Norcross, Georgia, was a member of the 48th
Infantry Brigade of the Georgia Army National Guard serving in Iraq;
and
WHEREAS,
this courageous soldier confronted the dangers, privations, and discomforts of
striving to keep the peace in Iraq with fortitude and steadfast resolve, making
us as a nation truly proud; and
WHEREAS,
Sergeant Saylor was killed in action on August 15, 2005, while serving in Iraq;
and
WHEREAS,
Sergeant Saylor selflessly gave his life in the service and defense of his
country, and his heroism will never be forgotten; and
WHEREAS,
his grieving family and friends can be proud of their loved one and, through
their grief, know that he gave his all for his country; and
WHEREAS,
all Americans owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women of our armed forces
who risk their lives in defending freedom and securing the blessings of liberty
for this nation and other peoples of the world.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor
Sergeant Paul Anthony Saylor for making the ultimate sacrifice in his courageous
and dedicated service to our nation and the most sincere condolences are offered
to his family and loved ones.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Sergeant
Paul Anthony Saylor.
