A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and service of Airman First Class Antoine J. Holt; and offering
condolences to his family upon his recent loss in combat; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Airman First Class Antoine J. Holt of Kennesaw, Georgia, was serving as a member
of the
603rd
Air Control Squadron at Balad Air Field, Iraq, on April 10, 2004, when he was
killed as a result of enemy action; and
WHEREAS,
this courageous soldier confronted the dangers, privations, and discomforts of
striving to keep the peace in Iraq with fortitude and steadfast resolve, making
us as a nation truly proud; and
WHEREAS,
although only 20 years old, Airman Holt was entrusted with unusually complex
tasks monitoring airspace activity and hooking up communication systems, tasks
rarely vouchsafed to one so young; and
WHEREAS,
Airman Holt selflessly gave his life in the service and defense of his country,
and his heroism will never be forgotten; and
WHEREAS,
his grieving family and friends can be proud of their loved one and, through
their grief, know that he gave his all for his country; and
WHEREAS,
all Americans owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women of our armed forces
who risk their lives in the defense of freedom and to secure the blessings of
liberty for this nation and other peoples of the world.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor
Airman First Class Antoine J. Holt for making the ultimate sacrifice in his
courageous and dedicated service to our nation and that the most sincere
condolences are offered to his family and loved
ones. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to the family of Airman First Class Antoine J. Holt.
