A
RESOLUTION
Commending
F. Jonathan Podriznik IV and recognizing him as a 2005 Georgia Certificate of
Merit recipient; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
F. Jonathan Podriznik IV was nominated by his high school to receive the 2005
Georgia Certificate of Merit; and
WHEREAS,
Georgia Certificate of Merit winners must be ranked in the top 5 percent of
their class and join an elite group of over 4,000 high school juniors chosen to
receive one of the most prestigious academic awards in the southern United
States; and
WHEREAS,
first presented in 1959 by the University of Georgia to identify our state's
most academically talented students, the Certificate of Merit program gained the
State of Georgia as its cosponsor in 1970; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia and its flagship university seek to encourage the best and
brightest students from over 400 high schools to explore the wide variety of
educational opportunities available in the state; and
WHEREAS,
so that recipients might learn more about scholarships and honors programs
available to them, the University of Georgia submits to them a list of all such
programs; and
WHEREAS,
in earning his Certificate of Merit, Jonathan has made his family, friends,
fellow students, and school faculty proud.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend F.
Jonathan Podriznik IV on his most notable and grand achievement and recognize
him as a 2005 Georgia Certificate of Merit recipient.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to F. Jonathan Podriznik IV.
