a candidate for Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, must complete a
rigorous program of training and demonstrate proficiency in selected scouting
techniques and attainment of the highest ideals of scouting; and
WHEREAS,
Trevor Smith's long trail to the rank of Eagle Scout began in the summer of
1994, when he was a Tiger Cub with Pack 156 of Windcrest, Texas, and he moved
through the ranks of Cub, Bear, and Webelos quickly, demonstrating his aptitude
and competency in mastering the various special skills taught through the Boy
Scout program; and
WHEREAS,
he became an active member of Troop 166 of Vogelweh, Germany, in March, 1999,
and passed his boards of review for Tenderfoot on April 19, 1999, for Second
Class on October 1, 1999, and First Class Scout on October 29, 1999;
and

WHEREAS,
along his trail to Eagle rank, he has earned 31 merit badges, and has exhibited
stellar leadership qualities in serving in vital leadership roles as instructor,

leader, and junior assistant scoutmaster; and
WHEREAS,
he was a founding member of two High Adventure Venture Crews, and is serving as
president of Crew 220 of Warner Robins, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
as his Eagle project, he built a prayer garden for the Landstuhl Fisher

people to sit and seek peace at a Fisher House, where a "home away from home" is
available for family members of Americans serving in the military forces to be
close to a loved one during hospitalization; and his project included raising
funds, designing the plan for the garden, and supervising the construction of a
walkway and deck with paving stones; and
WHEREAS,
he is a member of the senior class of Houston County High School, where he is an
active member of the foreign language club, and plans to pursue a degree in
international business; and
WHEREAS,
in a world that consistently seems to accentuate the negative aspects of the
actions of young people, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to
recognize the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary
individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Trevor Scott Cornett Smith for his diligence and dedication in
pursuing the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America and congratulate
