RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Deacon George Edward Yarbrough; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on June 10, 2005, the State of Virginia lost a great citizen upon the passing of
Deacon George Edward Yarbrough; and
WHEREAS,
he was born on December 25, 1936 in Saluda, Virginia, the beloved son of the
late Callie and Joseph Yarbrough; and
WHEREAS,
following his retirement as a much lauded homicide detective with the New York
City Police Department, he returned to his hometown of Saluda; and
WHEREAS,
he continued his commitment to service as an active member of his childhood
church, Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was ordained a deacon;
and
WHEREAS,
he was a member of the
Meńs
Chorus and the Mass Choir and delighted audiences with his soulful musical
renditions on the harmonica and trumpet; and
WHEREAS,
he extended his service to the community as a member of the Mason of the
Bethlehem Star Lodge No. 249; and
WHEREAS,
he was devoted to his wife of 21 years, Diane and was a loving and supportive
father, grandfather, brother, and uncle; and
WHEREAS,
his love of life and people was infectious and inspiring and in the hearts of
those who loved him, he lives on.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor and remember Deacon George Edward Yarbrough and express their
sincerest condolences to his family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Deacon George Edward Yarbrough.
