A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
Joseph Murray upon his retirement from the Coffee County Board of Education; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Joseph Murray served with distinction in the United States Army from 1945 to
1946; and
WHEREAS,
from 1949 to 1979, he was employed by the Coffee County School District and
served as a Principal for the last 22 years of his tenure; and
WHEREAS,
he was a member of the Coffee County Board of Education from 1991 to 1999, and
during this time he served as chairman and vice chairman and he began the
process to establish a Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) at
Coffee County High School; and
WHEREAS,
Joseph Murray received the Georgia School Boards Association Award of Excellence
in January, 1998; and
WHEREAS,
in 2003, a Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) was started at
Coffee County High School, due to his hard work and persistence;
and
WHEREAS,
he is a faithful and devoted husband to his wife, Mrs. Irene Murray, and
together they have raised outstanding children; and
WHEREAS,
he is an active member of the Gaines Chapel AME Church, where he serves as
Treasurer and Steward; and
WHEREAS,
he has consistently made decisions with the best interests of the children and
families of the community in mind in order to help maintain high standards for
local public education. NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body
honor Joseph Murray for his distinguished service as an educator and member of
Coffee County Board of Education and extend their best wishes for a happy
retirement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Joseph
Murray.
