A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life of Mrs. Bertha L. Barnes and expressing sympathy to her family and friends; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Bertha L. Barnes was born in Laurens County, Georgia, in 1900, and passed away on September 5, 2005; and

WHEREAS, during her 105 years of life, she experienced and witnessed innumerable changes within the world and herself but always remained steadfast in her love for God and mankind; and

WHEREAS, she was one of the most dedicated and faithful members of Reedy Spring Church where she served lovingly as Church Mother; and

WHEREAS, she lived a long life of quiet dignity which was defined by hard work but tempered by devotion and love; and

WHEREAS, she was always faithful to her family, her church, and community and was in turn deeply loved and respected; and

WHEREAS, she is survived by her nephew, Cornelius McCullars; nieces, Mane Smith and Sarah Allen; grandchildren Ronald Wells and Joseph Fullwood; and special friend Gladis Davis; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting that this resolution be tendered to her family as a memorial of her good works and faithful service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body expresses deep sorrow at the death of Mrs. Bertha L. Barnes, offers its heartfelt sympathy to her family, and joins her family in honoring her memory.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Bertha L. Barnes.
