A RESOLUTION

Commending Rev. John and Sis. Vivian Jennings on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Rev. John and Sis. Vivian Jennings have long been regarded as one of the most renowned couples in their community through their active involvement in its economic, social, civic, and religious activities and through Rev. Jenningś pastorate at the First Smyrna Baptist Church in Savannah for 41 years and Sis. Jenningś service as president of the Interdenominational Minister Wives and Widows Alliance of Savannah; and

WHEREAS, this loving couple was joined in holy wedlock on September 10, 1955, and have five children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and

WHEREAS, through five decades of marriage, they stand as a proud and shining example of enduring love and affection; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding that they have demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of their family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the selfless deeds and loving devotion of this remarkable couple be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Rev. John and Sis. Vivian Jennings for their five decades of unyielding strength and unparalleled inspiration on behalf of all of their family and congratulate them upon the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Rev. John and Sis. Vivian Jennings.
