RESOLUTION
Congratulating
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Scarborough on 70 years of marriage; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on New Year's Eve of 2005, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Scarborough of Wayne County,
Georgia, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ira Scarborough and the former Miss Rosa Daniels were married in 1935 at the
O'Quinn Baptist Church in O'Quinn County, with the Reverend Douglas Jackson
officiating; and
WHEREAS,
during the course of their long and wonderful marriage, they have been blessed
with a loving family, including four daughters and one son, as well as six
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. and Mrs. Scarborough began their love story in Wayne County and over the
years have lived in various areas but now once again reside in the county where
they first met, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center;
and
WHEREAS,
this very remarkable couple's 70 years of love and devotion to one another are
an inspiration to newlyweds everywhere and a true testament of the power of the
bond of holy matrimony.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together in congratulating Mr. and Mrs. Ira Scarborough on their celebration of
70 wonderful years of marriage and extend sincere wishes for many more happy
years together.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Ira
Scarborough.
