RESOLUTION
Commending
the senior members of Asbury United Methodist Church and recognizing February 5,
2006, as "Asbury Treasures Day"; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on February 5, 2006, Asbury United Methodist Church pays special tribute to its
senior members who are 75 years old or older, recognizing them as true
"treasures" of their church; and
WHEREAS,
during the course of their lifetimes, the "Asbury Treasures" have been stewards
of their communities and have positively influenced their church, homes, and
world by caring for the needs of others and sustaining their families;
and
WHEREAS,
loving God with all their hearts, these remarkable individuals have testified to
their strong Christian faith through the examples of their lives;
and
WHEREAS,
these men and women have served an important role in our society through the
rearing of their children, passing on their collected wisdom and values to the
next generation; and
WHEREAS,
considering their many contributions to Georgia made throughout the course of
their noble lifetimes, it is abundantly fitting and proper that these
individuals be appropriately recognized by this body.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending the senior members of Asbury United Methodist Church and recognize
February 5, 2006, as "Asbury Treasures Day."
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Asbury United Methodist
Church.
