RESOLUTION
Congratulating
and commending Eldrin Bell on the occasion of his ordination; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Eldrin Bell is Chairman of the Clayton County Commission, duly elected in a
landslide victory in November, 2004, and has more than three decades of public
service and leadership experience; and
WHEREAS,
Chairman Bell has held numerous leadership positions in the public sector,
including his service as Chief of the Atlanta Police Department after holding
every rank in the department; and
WHEREAS,
out of his love for children, Chairman Bell established the Clayton County Youth
Leadership Council and has adopted the Carrie Steele Pitts home for abandoned
and neglected children; and
WHEREAS,
Chairman Bell also sponsors the annual Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in
Clayton County; and
WHEREAS,
this "Christian Ambassador" has accepted his call into ministry of the gospel;
and
WHEREAS,
this loving father and grandfather is anchored in a passionate and strong belief
in God and is a faithful member of the Salem Baptist Church in Lithonia under
the visionary leadership and pastorate of the Reverend Dr. Jasper Williams, Sr.;
and
WHEREAS,
Chairman Bell is being ordained as a minister of the gospel on Sunday, March 20,
2005, with all the rights and privileges thereunto.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
congratulating and commending Eldrin Bell on the grand occasion of his
ordination.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Eldrin Bell.
