RESOLUTION
Commending
Reverend E. C. Tillman; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend E. C. Tillman, a man of great faith and principle, has been a community
leader and excellent role model to the citizens of the Golden Isles community;
and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Tillman has served as Pastor at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for 40
years, providing wise and compassionate guidance to this congregation; and
WHEREAS,
as a member of the Glynn County Board of Commissioners from 1989 until 1992,
Reverend Tillman provided outstanding service and leadership to the citizens of
District 5 and all of Glynn County; and
WHEREAS,
serving in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1993 to 2003, Reverend
Tillman earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues in the General
Assembly and was noted for his persistent dedication to Georgia's citizens and
the friendship and distinction which he brought to legislative deliberations;
and
WHEREAS,
from 1971 to 1980, Reverend Tillman was a dedicated member of the Glynn County
Board of Education and worked hard to ensure that each child in Glynn County
received an excellent education; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Tillman has also served as a member of the Regional Development
Authority, the Glynn Development Authority, and the Glynn County Airport
Commission; the international coordinator of Map International; and a board
member of the Coastal Community Action Agency.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending Reverend E. C. Tillman for his outstanding legacy of service to the
citizens of Glynn County and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend E. C. Tillman.
