RESOLUTION
Commending
and congratulating the Pinewood Christian Academy boys' basketball team; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
with 1.4 seconds remaining on the clock and a score of 53-52 on the board in the
hotly contested match, the Pinewood Christian Academy boys' basketball team
swooped in with their "homerun" play to put the team up 54-53 over LaGrange
Academy and net the first GISA Class AA state basketball championship in school
history; and
WHEREAS,
under the excellent leadership of Head Coach Jerry Waters, the Patriots finished
the season with an amazing 27-0 record, including a win over long-time rival
Brentwood; and
WHEREAS,
these victories attest to the talent and determination of the Patriots and their
dedication to their team and their sport; and
WHEREAS,
the crowd of Patriot supporters was delighted by the dual state titles of the
Pinewood boys and girls basketball teams; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia takes great pride in the achievement of these fine young
champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending the Pinewood Christian Academy boys' basketball team and Head Coach
Jerry Waters and congratulate them on their first GISA Class AA state basketball
championship.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Jerry Waters.
