A RESOLUTION

Honoring and remembering the life of Karitza (Kara) Chakrabandhu; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, we have all been saddened by the recent events in Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and the surrounding countries affected by the Tsunami and the wake of this natural disaster's aftermath; and

WHEREAS, on December 26, 2004, Georgia lost one of its finest young women with the passing of Karitza (Kara) Chakrabandhu who was vacationing with family in Thailand; and

WHEREAS, Kara Chakrabandhu, born on March 26, 1982, was the adored fourth and youngest daughter of Vitya (Chuck) and Meriam Chakrabandhu, beloved sister of Yana, Lisa and Eric Byrd, and Thita and Marc Lin, and a wonderful aunt to Daniel, Draven, and Eyan Byrd and Hayden Lin, who always looked forward to time spent with Kara; and

WHEREAS, Kara graduated from Wesleyan High School and was a fine arts major at Rhode Island School of Design, and of all the arts, Kara loved painting the most; and

WHEREAS, Kara was a soft-spoken, beautiful girl with a huge heart whom her family has always referred to as their "angel"; and

WHEREAS, while this family is still grieving, we are thankful they are physically well and successfully recovering from minor injuries; and

WHEREAS, the untimely passing of this beloved individual leaves an unfillable void in the hearts and lives of her family and friends.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Miss Karitza (Kara) Chakrabandhu and extend their most sincere condolences to her family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Miss Karitza (Kara) Chakrabandhu.
