A RESOLUTION

Commending and recognizing the Georgia Association of Black State Universities; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Georgia Association of Black State Universities is comprised of the national alumni associations of Albany State University, Fort Valley State University, and Savannah State University; and

WHEREAS, all three institutions were elevated to university status in 1996; and

WHEREAS, all three institutions have celebrated over 100 years of existence under the motto of tradition, pride, and progress; and

WHEREAS, the association will hold its twentieth annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia, January 26, 2005, through January 28, 2005; and

WHEREAS, the association's purpose is to form a common agenda for the three historically black universities, to lobby for the needs of the three universities, and to seek support for these fine institutions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend and recognize the Georgia Association of Black State Universities for its outstanding and dedicated work.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Association of Black State Universities.
