A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the First Baptist Church of Baxley on its 125th Anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
as a nation united under God, the religious institutions in our country have
performed a historical role in setting a fine example of moral values, charity
to those less fortunate, and worship of Him from whom all blessings flow;
and
WHEREAS,
the First Baptist Church of Baxley, Georgia, was organized in 1880 with 17
charter members whose purpose was to preach the Gospel of the Son of God and to
uplift humanity; and
WHEREAS,
since 1890 when the present church site was acquired, the First Baptist Church
of Baxley has had a history of growth and expansion including the 1927
completion of the sanctuary, which was the second building on the property; the
1957 construction of a two-story brick educational building; the 1962
installation of a pipe organ; the 1994 construction of a new fellowship hall;
and the 1998 addition of an elevator; and
WHEREAS,
the First Baptist Church has always had a positive effect on people and brought
souls to Jesus Christ through its numerous outreach programs and ministries,
which include the establishment of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church and Riverside
Baptist Church as well as home and foreign mission activities; and
WHEREAS,
First Baptist Church has been an influential and guiding force in the City of
Baxley for the past 125 years and has greatly contributed to the moral
development and growth of Appling County and Baxley; and
WHEREAS,
First Baptist Church continues to play a vital role in the lives of its members
and those with whom they come in contact by sharing the love of Jesus Christ
through worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching, and service;
and
WHEREAS, the First Baptist Church of Baxley will continue "Sowing Seeds of Faith."
WHEREAS, the First Baptist Church of Baxley will continue "Sowing Seeds of Faith."
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring the First Baptist Church of Baxley and extend their sincere
congratulations and best wishes to each of its members on the milestone of its
125th Anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the First Baptist Church
of Baxley.
