Stoner of the 6th, Adelman of the 42nd, Golden of the 8th and Brown of the 26th
offered the following amendment:
Amend
SR 166 by striking "and" at the end of line 15 of page 1.
By
striking the period at the end of line 18 of page 1 and inserting in its place
"; and".
By
inserting between lines 18 and 19 of page 1 the following:
"(7)
An independent commission shall be established prior to the next apportionment
of congressional districts. Such commission shall consist of four members, with
the majority leader of the House of Representatives, the minority leader of the
House of Representatives, the majority leader of the Senate, and the minority
leader of the Senate each appointing one commission member. No person shall be
eligible to serve as a commission member who is currently holding any elective
office. All commission members must be retired judges. Any congressional
reapportionment plan shall be approved by three-fourths of the members appointed
to the commission in a roll-call
vote."
