RESOLUTION
Remembering
and honoring the life of Mr. Tommy Hembree; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Georgia lost one of its most beloved citizens on February 1, 2006, with the
passing of Mr. Tommy Hembree at the age of 70; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Hembree, a resident of Austell, Georgia, served his country honorably as a
member of the United States Army Color Guard; and
WHEREAS,
since 1968, Mr. Hembree enjoyed a highly successful career in the heating and
air conditioning industry; and
WHEREAS,
he was a past president and active board member of the Heating and Air
Conditioning Association of Cobb County and a board member of the Conditioned
Air Association of Georgia, which named him the 2006 Contractor of the Year;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Hembree was devoted to serving his fellow man and was a volunteer for
Habitat for Humanity; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Hembree was an avid fisherman and deer hunter who loved traveling the
country in his RV; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Hembree leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including his wife of 52
years, Vera McKenney Hembree; his son, Dennis Alan Hembree; and his sisters,
Doris Gramling, Virginia Everett, Anne Elsberry, Marcelle Hooks, and Catherine
Hembree; and
WHEREAS,
the passing of Mr. Hembree has left an unfillable void in the hearts of all who
knew and loved this exceptional gentleman, who will always be remembered with
the greatest affection for his kind and generous nature and warm and loving
spirit.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
remembering and honoring the life of Mr. Tommy Hembree and extend their most
sincere condolences to his family and friends.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Vera McKenney
Hembree.
