A RESOLUTION

Congratulating Mrs. Willie Mary Cole on the occasion of her 101st birthday; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, January 20, 2006, Mrs. Willie Mary Cole of Alamo, Georgia, celebrated the very special milestone of her 101st birthday; and

WHEREAS, she was born in 1905 in Wilkinson County to Andrew and Willie Robinson; and

WHEREAS, after moving around the communities of the Cotton Belt, the Robinsons settled in Tattnall County where she, along with her family, picked cotton, often more than 200 pounds a day; and

WHEREAS, as a young woman, Mrs. Cole was a school teacher, in addition to handling many other responsibilities; and

WHEREAS, during the past century, Mrs. Cole has touched the lives of countless individuals with her generosity, compassion, and sweet and constant spirit; and

WHEREAS, after living in Ohio for over 30 years and living in Collins, Georgia, for a while, Mrs. Cole moved to Wheeler County, where she is highly respected and admired and enjoys a solid reputation as an outstanding and versatile cook; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cole is a faithful member of Simmons Temple of Collins (although she sometimes attends services at Stewart Chapel Baptist Church and Spaulding Chapel, both of Alamo) and spends several hours each day reading the Bible and Christian books; and

WHEREAS, by the example she has made of her life, Mrs. Cole makes this world a better place, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body express their congratulations and best wishes to one of our state's most honorable citizens, Mrs. Willie Mary Cole, on the happy event of her 101st birthday and thank her for all her many contributions to Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Willie Mary Cole.
