RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and expressing appreciation to Dr. James Cross on the occasion of his 75th
birthday; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. James Cross is an eminent physician and distinguished citizen of the State
of Georgia who was born on March 24, 1931; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Cross is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia who went on to Emory
University to complete his medical training; and
WHEREAS,
after three years of patriotic service as a military doctor, he returned to
Georgia in 1964 becoming one of the original 18 doctors to found Northside
Hospital in Atlanta; and
WHEREAS,
he moved to Cherokee County in 1992, the only doctor delivering babies in the
county at that time and, due in large part to his work in Cherokee County, the
Northside Cherokee hospital was established; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Cross has delivered over 5,000 babies, touching and enriching the lives of
countless individuals, and he is well known and respected by his colleagues, his
patients, and his community as a courageous, generous, and loving person and an
outstanding physician; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Cross went above and beyond the call of duty to provide caring and quality
treatment to his patients often at great personal sacrifice to himself and it is
abundantly fitting and proper that the dedicated service of this amazing doctor
be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body do hereby
join in recognizing Dr. James Cross on the occasion of his 75th birthday and in
expressing their appreciation for the many contributions he has made to the
citizens of the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. James Cross.
