RESOLUTION
Commending
the Parkview High School Concert Band; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Parkview High School Concert Band has established and maintained a proud
tradition of musical excellence; and
WHEREAS,
the members of the band are required to spend a substantial number of after
school hours practicing and perfecting their mastery of instruments and music
material; and
WHEREAS,
under the expert and unwavering guidance of band director Allen Beach, the band
has achieved the singular honor of receiving the highly coveted 2005 Sudler Flag
of Honor Award; and
WHEREAS,
the band has joined a highly select and elite company of musicians as this rare
international recognition was awarded to only two other school concert bands in
2005 and only 49 bands in the United States, Canada, and Japan have ever
received such an honor during the 23 years the Sudler Flag award program has
been in operation; and
WHEREAS,
the Gwinnett County community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the
dedication and enthusiasm of these stellar performers.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Parkview High School Concert Band for its outstanding achievements;
congratulates it upon winning the 2005 Sudler Flag of Honor Award; and extends
the most sincere best wishes for continued success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Allen Beach.
