RESOLUTION
Commending
Cathalene Teahan, R.N., M.S.N.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Cathalene Teahan, R.N., M.S.N., has provided invaluable support to the State of
Georgia as a public policy expert on health care issues in general and as the
president of the Georgia AIDS Coalition in particular; and
WHEREAS,
through the quality of her leadership, the state has undertaken significant
legislative, administrative, and financial initiatives to provide care for
persons with HIV, AIDS, and other communicable diseases and to prevent the
further spread of these illnesses; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Teahan has been involved with the Georgia AIDS Coalition since its early
days and has helped shepherd this organization as an important source of advice
and counsel to the Department of Human Resources, the Department of Community
Health, and the Department of Corrections on strategies needed to address and
minimize the transmission HIV, AIDS, and other communicable diseases, and for
the provision of compassionate care and service for persons with such diseases;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Teahan has provided wise counsel regarding the state's policies in the areas
of public education, advocacy, treatment, rehabilitation, and housing as these
issues relate to HIV, AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and other public health
concerns; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Teahan has unselfishly given of her time and expertise to help advance the
well-being of others by reducing the impact of HIV, AIDS, and other communicable
diseases on the citizens of this state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Cathalene Teahan, R.N., M.S.N., for her years of exemplary service to Georgia as
chair of the Georgia AIDS Coalition, the Georgia Task Force on AIDS, and other
state-wide organizations, her leadership positions with the Georgia Nurses
Association, and her continuing service as an effective advocate for progressive
health care policy in the state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cathalene Teahan, R.N.,
M.S.N.
