Senate Resolution 1302

A RESOLUTION

Remembering Dr. Ray Webb for his contributions to the Effingham County community; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Webb moved to Effingham County as a young child and attended the Effingham County schools during his entire childhood, telling all who would listen that he would one day be a doctor; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Webb graduated from Effingham Academy in 1946 and then attended and graduated from the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Webb did return to Springfield in 1956, beginning his practice and becoming the foundation for medical services in Effingham County; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Webb was a visionary and led the movement to build a hospital in Effingham County, which was completed in 1969 and opened as the Effingham County Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Webb dedicated more than 40 years of his life treating the sick of Effingham County, and his mark on his community shall not soon fade; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Webb passed away on December 28, 2005, leaving behind his wife of 51 years, Willie, and his children Mary Lee and Darwin, as well as his two grandchildren Ray Darwin and Victoria.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body remember and recognize the life of Dr. Ray Webb of Effingham County and all of his contributions to his community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Willie Webb.
