Senate Resolution 1289

A RESOLUTION

Commending Mrs. Dorothy "Sue" Lindstrom; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, there are very few individuals who have done more to help children in need than Mrs. Dorothy "Sue" Lindstrom, who, along with her loving husband of 40 years, Daniel Lindstrom, has opened her home and her heart to 88 foster children; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lindstrom first became a foster mother at the age of 22, when she took in a 12 year old girl while Mrs. Lindstrom was caring for her own two biological toddlers; and

WHEREAS, since that time, Mrs. Lindstrom's tremendous love for children has driven her to be a mother, counselor, role model, and friend to scores of young people of a variety of ethnic backgrounds and ages, many of whom have suffered from physical or mental disabilities; and

WHEREAS, several of the children she has cared for over the years have come from heartbreaking backgrounds of emotional or physical abuse, children that the Lindstrom family has always strived to serve by making them feel loved, wanted, and protected; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lindstrom has proudly seen her foster children achieve many great personal accomplishments, including several who have gone on to college or who have found productive vocations; and

WHEREAS, in her unwavering devotion to the young people under her care, Mrs. Lindstrom and her husband have adopted 14 children with special needs; and

WHEREAS, this incredible lady is truly an inspiration to people everywhere who seek to make this world a better place for children.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending Mrs. Dorothy "Sue" Lindstrom for her many years of extraordinary service as a foster mother and in extending their very best wishes for happiness and prosperity to her wonderful family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Dorothy "Sue" Lindstrom.
