RESOLUTION
Recognizing
April 7, 2006, as "Seventh District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Day"; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., was founded on November 17, 1911, in
Washington, D.C., on the campus of Howard University by Edgar A. Love, Oscar J.
Cooper, Frank Coleman, and Ernest E. Just; and
WHEREAS,
the positive impact of the members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has
been and continues to be felt throughout the Seventh District, which includes
Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, and throughout the world;
and
WHEREAS,
there is no single aspect of religious, civic, social, business, or professional
life that does not find Men of Omega making positive contributions;
and
WHEREAS,
the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., strives to translate its cardinal
principles, "Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift," into the very
essence and fiber of our community life; and
WHEREAS,
on April 6 – 9, 2006, the Lambda Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,
Inc., will host the "All Roads Lead to Macon" 69th Annual Seventh District
Meeting, with a theme of "Economic Empowerment Leading to Social and Political
Change"; and
WHEREAS,
this is a historic meeting, since the first Seventh District Meeting took place
in Fort Valley, Georgia, on the campus of Fort Valley College and State
University on April 24, 1936.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
recognizing April 7, 2006, as "Seventh District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.,
Day" and in thanking all of this venerable fraternity's many upstanding members
for their invaluable contributions to Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Lambda Phi Chapter of
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
