RESOLUTION
Congratulating
New Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church on its 100th anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
New Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church is celebrating its 100th anniversary,
marking a century of being one of the most distinguished faith communities in
Columbus, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
in 1906, a faithful band of believers that included Miss Mary Jones, Brother and
Sister Peacock, and U.S. Willis pitched a tent on 24th Street in the East
Highland area of the city, later building a permanent house of worship in this
location; and
WHEREAS,
since that time, New Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church has been a beacon of
light to its community, spreading the teachings of its faith with love and
devotion; and
WHEREAS,
the congregation is led today by Elder Lloyd M. Johnson, who has built on the
hard work of his predecessors to complete a beautiful new church facility;
and
WHEREAS,
as New Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church celebrates 100 memorable years of
faith at work, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to pay tribute
to this vibrant religious community on the occasion of this very special
milestone.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join to
congratulate New Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church on the happy event of its
100th anniversary and to extend their best wishes for continued growth and
prosperity.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to New Bethel Seventh Day
Adventist Church.
