Georgia Railroad completed a rail project that traversed Cross Roads, furthering
the area's growth into a town; and
WHEREAS,

Lithos
(rock) and
Onia

WHEREAS,
over the years, Lithonia has grown from a tiny town of about 250 in 1861 to
becoming a major suburb of metropolitan Atlanta; and

throughout its history, the City of Lithonia has had a unique personality all
its own, and Georgia has been very blessed to have this vibrant community in its
midst for 150 years.
NOW,

commemorating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the City of Lithonia and
