RESOLUTION
Commending
Matthew Goggans on becoming an Eagle Scout; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Matthew Goggans, of Boy Scout Troop 3 of the Atlanta Area Council has earned the
rank of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS,
to earn this exceptional award, he earned 21 merit badges and served his troop
in a variety of leadership roles; and
WHEREAS,
for his Eagle Scout service project, Matthew Goggans renovated the baseball
field of Ephesus Baptist Church in Winston, Georgia, cutting back overgrowth,
fixing the fencing, and repairing the baseball diamond to create a pristine
field for all in the church community to enjoy; and
WHEREAS,
only one scout out of 97 ever reaches this lofty level of achievement, and
Matthew Goggans has ably demonstrated his aptitude and competency in mastering
the many special skills taught through the Boy Scout program; and
WHEREAS,
Matthew Goggans has truly exhibited a commitment to the scouting principles of
honesty and fairness and has consistently conducted himself in a manner becoming
of an Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS,
in a world which all too often seems to dwell on the negative aspects of the
actions of young people, it is especially fitting and proper for this body to
recognize the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary young
man.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Matthew Goggans for his diligence and dedication in pursuing the highest honor
awarded by the Boy Scouts of America and congratulate him on attaining the
prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Matthew Goggans.
