RESOLUTION
Commending
the University of Georgia Women's Swimming Team on winning the 2005 NCAA
National Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
for the fourth time in six years, the University of Georgia Lady Bulldogs
Women's Swimming Team has won the NCAA National Championship; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Jack Bauerle was named the NCAA Division I Women's College Swimming Coach
of the Year for the fourth time and the Southeastern Conference Women's Coach of
the Year for the tenth time; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Bulldogs claimed top honors in the 100 and 200 butterfly events, the 50
and 100 freestyle events, and for the first time in NCAA history, won all five
relay races; and
WHEREAS,
after a stellar 9-0 season, the Lady Bulldogs were named the College Swim
Coaches of America Association's Women's Dual Meet Champion; and
WHEREAS,
thanks to the hard work and perseverance of the team's extraordinary athletes,
the Lady Bulldogs set or matched nine school records, including three American
records, two U.S. Open records, and two NCAA records; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Bulldogs Swimming Team has brought great honor to its school and state
through its impressive victory at the NCAA National Championship.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending the University of Georgia Women's Swimming Team on winning the 2005
NCAA National Championship and congratulate the team's swimmers and coaches on
their outstanding athletic accomplishments.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the swimmers and coaches
of the University of Georgia Women's Swimming Team.
