A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend an Act creating the State Court of Clayton County, approved January 28, 1964 (Ga. L. 1964, p. 2032), as amended, so as to provide that the solicitor-general of said court may employ such assistant solicitors-general, deputy solicitors-general, or other attorneys, investigators, paraprofessionals, clerical assistants, and other employees or independent contractors as may be authorized by the Board of Commissioners of Clayton County; to provide for compensation; to provide for qualifications; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
An Act creating the State Court of Clayton County, approved January 28, 1964 (Ga. L. 1964, p. 2032), as amended, is amended by inserting following Section 7 a new section to be designated Section 7A to read as follows:

"SECTION 7A.
(a) The solicitor-general may employ such assistant solicitors-general, deputy solicitors-general, or other attorneys, investigators, paraprofessionals, clerical assistants, and other employees or independent contractors as may be authorized by the board of commissioners. Such personnel shall be compensated by the county in a manner and amount fixed by the solicitor-general with the approval of the board of commissioners.
(b) Any investigator appointed pursuant to this subsection shall meet the qualifications for certification as a peace officer as provided in Chapter 8 of Title 35 of the O.C.G.A., the 'Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act.' Such investigators shall exercise all powers of a peace officer including the power to make arrest and to apply for, execute, and return any warrant, rule, order, or process within Clayton County."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
