A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Article 1 of Chapter 13 of Title 19 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to granting of relief in family violence cases by the superior courts, so as to provide that neither the filing of a notice of appeal nor the filing of an appeal of a temporary protective order shall act as a stay or supersedeas of such order; to provide for related matters; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Article 1 of Chapter 13 of Title 19 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to granting of relief in family violence cases by the superior courts, is amended by adding a new Code Section 19-13-7 to read as follows:
"19-13-7.
Neither the filing of a notice of appeal nor the filing of an appeal of a temporary protective order issued under this article shall act as a stay or supersedeas of such order, and such order shall remain in effect during such appeal."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
