BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 1 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to general provisions for penal institutions, so as to create certain
prohibitions on residency of registered sex offenders at institutions of higher
education in this state; to provide for a penalty; to provide for related
matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
1 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general
provisions for penal institutions, is amended by adding a new Code section to
the end of the chapter to read as follows:
∀42-1-14.
(a)
No individual required to register under Code Section 42-1-12 shall reside in
any housing operated by or owned in whole or in part by an institution of higher
education in this state.
(b)
Any person who knowingly fails to comply with this Code section shall be guilty
of a felony and shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more
than three
years.∀
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
