RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Honorable Mary Jeanette Jamieson; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Honorable Mary Jeanette Jamieson has been a distinguished member of the Georgia
House of Representatives since 1984; and
WHEREAS,
her advocacy on behalf of development in the rural areas of Georgia and the
nation have been widely recognized, and, following the successful presentation
of her dynamic program for rural development to the Board of Harvard University,
she was invited to receive the President's Award for Innovative Government from
President George W. Bush for her valuable and insightful contributions in this
area; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Jamieson appeared before the 2003 Sustainable Development session of the
United Nations and gave a presentation to the United Nations Seminar on Under
Developing Countries; and
WHEREAS,
in Washington, D.C., on March 2, 2005, Mrs. Jamieson was honored as one of only
two inductees from the Southeastern United States into the National Rural
Development Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS,
through her dedicated support of rural communities, Mrs. Jamieson has brought
great honor and credit to this state, and it is only fitting that she be
appropriately recognized on this significant occasion.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing Honorable Mary Jeanette Jamieson, commend her for
her many contributions on behalf of rural development, and extend their most
sincere congratulations on her recent induction into the National Rural
Development Hall of Fame.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Honorable
Mary Jeanette Jamieson.
