RESOLUTION
Commending
Ms. Connie Wiggins, Executive Director of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful has excellent leadership in its Executive
Director, Ms. Connie Wiggins; and
WHEREAS,
this science and community based program, along with its many partners, is
helping to build and sustain a healthier, safer, and more livable Gwinnett by
organizing more than 150,000 volunteers a year to tackle such issues as
recycling, waste management, improving air and water quality, litter and
graffiti clean-up and prevention, the preservation of greenspaces, and
neighborhood improvement; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Connie Wiggins has helped Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful to educate more
than 763,000 citizens about good environmental stewardship, to involve more than
1.7 million volunteers in improving Gwinnett's environment, to return an average
of $25.00 in community benefits for every $1.00 of government investment
annually, to reduce signs of graffiti vandalism by 60 percent, to plant 45,000
trees, and to recover enough recyclables to fill a convoy of trucks stretched
from Lawrenceville, Georgia, to New York City; and
WHEREAS,
Georgia's strength and vitality depends upon the health of Georgia's natural
environment and resources and the quality of life enjoyed in its communities;
and
WHEREAS,
under her skillful and effective leadership, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful
continues its 25 year tradition of developing innovative and effective programs
in environmental education, community beautification, and preservation that are
leading the way for similar initiatives throughout the State of
Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending Ms. Connie Wiggins, Executive Director of Gwinnett
Clean & Beautiful, for her outstanding dedication to improving and
maintaining the natural beauty and quality of life enjoyed by the citizens of
Gwinnett County.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Connie
Wiggins, Executive Director of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful.
