RESOLUTION
Recognizing
The Links, Incorporated, and inviting the officers thereof to appear before the
House; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
The Links, Incorporated, is an organization comprised of women of African
heritage who are committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the
identities, culture, and economic survival of all people of African origin
through cultural, educational, and civic programs; and
WHEREAS,
The Links, Incorporated, was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1946 on
the fundamentals of friendship and service; and
WHEREAS,
The Links, Incorporated, conducts programs through strategic public information
and education, economic development, and public policy to provide enrichment
experiences in the areas of the arts, services to youth, national trends and
services, and international trends and services; and
WHEREAS,
on February 25, 2005, the members of the Southern Area of The Links,
Incorporated, will attend "Links Day at the Capitol" to promote the passage of
Healthy People 2010 legislation designed to eliminate health disparities and to
focus on reducing infant mortality, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes,
and HIV/AIDS and encouraging immunizations; and
WHEREAS,
it is fitting and proper to recognize the efforts of this group.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend The Links, Incorporated, for its work to improve
the quality of life in this state and nation and wish the members of The Links,
Incorporated, continued success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the president and officers of The Links, Incorporated,
are invited to appear before the House of Representatives for purposes of being
recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution at
a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House.
