A RESOLUTION

Commending Mrs. Carrie Hill Dillard on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carrie Hill Dillard has retired after over 32 years in the work force; and

WHEREAS, the daughter of the late D. C. Hill and Rebecca Willis Hill Fleming, Mrs. Dillard graduated from Athens High School in 1964 and later attended Athens Technical College and the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she married the late Walter Dillard, Jr., in 1967, and the couple was blessed with two daughters, Fern Adrienne and Olga Michele; and

WHEREAS, since 1973, Mrs. Dillard has faithfully served in the office of the Athens-Clarke County Tax Commissioner, beginning in the administrations of Commissioner Homer G. Hale and continuing through the current tenure of Commissioner Nancy B. Denson; and

WHEREAS, as a tax clerk, Mrs. Dillard greatly enjoyed assisting the public on all sorts of tax concerns, and she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues for her professionalism, intelligence, and friendly and courteous demeanor; and

WHEREAS, outside of her career, Mrs. Dillard enjoys spending time with her adorable grandchildren, Stacee Danielle Dillard and Malik Dakari Hancock, and is a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, West, where she participates in the Deaconess Board, the Usher Board, Toastmasters, and a variety of other programs; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Dillard is also a member of the Athens Chapter #9 O.F.S., Jimmie J. Carither's #292 Assembly, and a former member of the Charmettes; and

WHEREAS, considering Mrs. Dillard's many invaluable contributions to Georgia during the course of her 32 and a half years of exemplary service to the public, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to appropriately recognize this remarkable lady on this special time in her life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Mrs. Carrie Hill Dillard on her many years of exceptional service to Georgia and express to her their best wishes that her well-deserved retirement years be happy and fulfilling to her and her family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Carrie Hill Dillard.
