RESOLUTION
Commending
Atlanta Technical College on its recent accreditation by the Commission on
Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Atlanta Technical College was founded in 1967; and
WHEREAS,
Atlanta Technical College is the largest single-campus technical college in the
State of Georgia, serving more than 4,000 credit and non-credit students in more
than 80 instructional programs; and
WHEREAS,
Atlanta Technical College and its students have been featured in the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution, including five stories about its excellent instructional
programs in the last six months; and
WHEREAS,
Atlanta Technical College has developed and implemented the Academic Learning
Support Center for its students; expanded its hours and opened a new laboratory
facility for the barbering program; expanded many of its instructional programs,
including programs for pharmacist's assistants, database specialists, medical
coding, website fundamentals, and firefighters; expanded its computers and
computer laboratories on campus; expanded customized training programs; and
developed the Halle Student Exchange with Felix Fechenbach Berufskolleg in
Lippe, Germany, which is the only ongoing international exchange program in the
Georgia Technical College system; and
WHEREAS,
recently, Atlanta Technical College received accreditation by the Commission on
Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding work of this fine educational institution is worthy of
recognition and commendation.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Atlanta Technical College on the exceptional work that its has
done in educating its students and meeting the needs of Georgia citizens and
congratulate Atlanta Technical College on its recent accreditation by the
Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to President
Brenda Watts Jones of Atlanta Technical College.
