RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and expressing appreciation to
Françoise
Gilot and the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Françoise
Gilot is recognized internationally as one of the most outstanding visual
artists of the second half of the 20th century whose work encourages the
individual exploration of inner vision; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Gilot has remained a vital presence in the art world, creating a bridge
between the cultures of Europe and America; and
WHEREAS,
through her passionate and independent spirit, her inspirational works, and her
devotion to encouraging young artists, Ms. Gilot has made and continues to make
many significant contributions to the world of art; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia is honored to have such a distinguished artist as its guest
and as a supporter of its efforts to advance the arts and arts education
throughout the state; and
WHEREAS,
the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County is committed to
expanding the arts and arts education within its community, and it is highly
fitting that the centre receive sincere thanks and recognition for introducing
the State of Georgia to Ms. Gilot and her magnificent works.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in extending their warmest welcome to Ms.
Françoise
Gilot and commend her for her many contributions to the study of the arts and
express their sincere appreciation to the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts
of Coweta County for their outstanding work within the community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms.
Françoise
Gilot and the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County.
